  2. Apr 20, 2022, 2:00pm - 4:00pm

What does it mean to have privilege? What is oppression? How do your social identities, such as race, gender, class, religion, sexuality, etc. grant or deny you privilege? How can we use privilege to transform systems that perpetuate social inequity? This 2-hour interactive webinar will explore these questions, providing participants with an opportunity to delve into their social identities - a process that reveals how we all have and lack privilege simultaneously – and discover ways to leverage privilege to achieve allyship with people from marginalized groups.

  3. Apr 14, 2022, 1:00pm - 3:00pm

All too often we witness subtle comments or behaviors rooted in bias that cause harm to others, many times directed toward people in vulnerable populations. Have you ever been in a situation like that and wanted to say or do something, but didn't know what to do? Anyone can become an active bystander and learn to address explicit and implicit bias. In this 2-hour interactive webinar, we will explore some of the most common expressions of bias and identify tools participants can use as an active bystander to interrupt bias in daily life.

  4. Apr 14, 2022, 11:00am - 12:00pm

Through a highly interactive experience, this workshop helps answer the question of “what exactly is privilege and why should we care?” In this workshop, participants will gain a greater understanding of privilege, how systemic oppression affects us all and a new way of perceiving the world around them. This workshop will be facilitated by Nick Gilbert, Social Justice Educator for the Ohio State University Student Life Multicultural Center. Participation in this program is worth 1 CFAES DICE credit.

  5. Apr 13, 2022, 11:00am - 12:00pm

Have you ever engaged in a conversation about an uncomfortable or sensitive topic and didn't know how to approach it? Conversations about sensitive topics can go awry and lead to friction, but this does not need to be the case. In this 60-minute webinar participants will be provided with strategies for engaging in conversations that may be uncomfortable or challenging. The latter part of this program provides participants with an opportunity to apply what they have learned in a breakout room activity.

  7. Apr 5, 2022, 10:00am - 11:00am

This highly interactive 60-minute program will take a deeper dive into frequently witnessed and initiated microaggressions. Participants will work in small groups to identify the intention and impact of a variety of real-life microaggression scenarios. Basic knowledge about microaggressions is required.

  8. Apr 4, 2022, 10:00am - 11:00am

This highly interactive workshop examines media representation, socialization and stereotypes. Through examples like #OscarsSoWhite and other popular TV shows and movies, participants will unpack how media impacts our bias and stereotypes.  This workshop will be facilitated by Nick Gilbert, Social Justice Educator for the Ohio State University Student Life Multicultural Center. Participation in this program is worth 1 CFAES DICE credit.

  9. Apr 1, 2022, 10:00am - 11:30am

This 90-minute program provides an overview of best practices for recruiting a diverse candidate pool. Participants will examine the role that various forms of bias can play in screening applicants and identify ways that privilege creates an unlevel competitive job market. Strategies for recruitment of historically underrepresented minority applicants will be addressed. The College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences requires that all individuals serving on faculty search committees complete this program every 2 years.

  10. Mar 29, 2022, 10:00am - 11:00am

Microaggressions are common, often subtle expressions of bias, many times initiated unintentionally and unconsciously that can have serious impacts on recipients including shortening life expectancy. In this 60-minute webinar, participants will learn about common microaggressions and the hidden, harmful messages they send. We will disentangle intention from impact and identify strategies for responding when accidentally initiating a microaggression.
