Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Student Support Events for Spring 2020

Jan. 24, 2020
Four OSU students spelling out Ohio with their bodies and arms

We hope that that you all have had a good start to your spring semester! We are very happy to announce that in addition to our professional development workshops, we have several great events and workshops lined up for our students this semester.

Starting this semester, we will be co-hosting the Graduate Student Dissertation/Thesis Write-Ins with the Office of Research and Graduate Education. A write-in is a quiet space for students to get together to write independently in community and is a very effective tool for many people. Students may come and go as they wish and are welcome to bring an additional monitor. Snacks and tea will be provided, and students are welcome to bring their own food. These meetings occur every other Friday from 9:00am-12:00pm. Please be sure to check our calendar for each date as the location for each meeting is not the same.

The Office of Research and Graduate Education is also hosting a series of workshops for graduate students that focus on all the opportunities (and challenges) that life as a graduate student has to offer. Topics that will be covered in these workshops include resiliency, resume writing, preparing for professional interviews, building connections, and more. More information on these sessions can be found on their website and on our Other Events and Workshops page.

We are also opening our Graduate Student Support Group to all graduate students in the Ohio State community. This support group is peer-led and serves as a safe and confidential network to help graduate students manage the challenges that arise during this exciting, but stressful chapter in their lives. Our support group offers in-person meetings for students on the Columbus campus with the ability to attend remotely via Zoom for our students in Wooster and other locations. Meetings take place on Fridays from 4:30-5:30pm. We ask that students sign up for the Graduate Student Support Group email list or email Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion's Program Director, Dr. Leo Taylor ( for the meeting location and Zoom link.

Have questions about any of our student support programming or want to know how to get involved? Feel free to email Dr. Leo Taylor ( or Program Assistant, Alicia Baca ( for more information.
